I'd wait to pass judgement on it...and I'm not a big fan of anime in the least, I'm very particular of what I watch...and it aint Sailor Moon. This could be good...could suck. We'll have to see. As I always say, even bad sci fi is good sci fi, you can always pick a thing or two from it for gaming or a good laugh at least...

I enjoy good animation, so long as there's a fun or interesting story to go with it. Animations is just another form of film.

I don't know which part of 'anime' they're talking about. If it's just high end animation (ex: Appleseed), it would fit Mad Max fine. If it's really over the top action (ex: Advent Children), it still might. If it's Japanese culture filtered thorugh Mad Max, it would be rather odd.

I'm more disappointed with the multiple points that Mel Gibson won't be involved. Is it because of money, timing, or were they wanting to do something with the character and story he didn't like?

If it's the first two, I'll stay disappointed, but it can still work with a good story and a decent replacement actor.

If it's the last, it could kill the whole thing.

I'd probably still go see it. I've wanted another Mad Max since I watched the last one. I got really excited when I heard about the fourth one they were suppose to make about six years ago. We'll see what they do with it.
Plus, no offense, but Mel has kinda gone loco recently. I don't really think he'd be up to bringing us anything like this anyway.

there is still hope for a live action flick of this, another blog states he has not ruled out live acting for the fourth, fingers crossed

perhaps if they want a 3d anime movie they could do it as another character set in the same universe as an additional movie.
