Alright, I'm new. I've not been much of a mini gamer in the past, but wanting to try out one, I asked around and got two good recommendations. Then I added a qualifier to my choices and ended up with one: Rezolution.
Now, I've not got anything yet (besides mini paint and primer, I've painted miniatures for RPG's I played in the past.)
Since I'm new to mini games (besides a few rounds of Heroscape, and one dim memory of a Warhammer game close to two decades ago.) What rulebooks do I need? I plan on fielding Vatacini, and my friend (and likely opponent) mentioned APAC, another friend might be willing to try the game out as well. I'm trying to keep costs down somewhat since I will be the one outlaying the initial start up products (rule books--maybe miniatures.)
Now please take into account that the forces will probably cover the entire field (APAC, Dravini, Vatacini and what have you.)

Welcome to the wonderful dark tomorrow of Rezolution!
There are only two books currently out for Rezolution. A Dark Tomorrow is the core rulebook. It was edited and re-released with the two-player Shadow War box set (CSO vs APAC). The second book is Outbreak which is the official campaign book which also includes rules, fluff, stats for the Vatacina.

Also worth mentioning that for starting up if you can collect Ronin as one of the startup forces you gen get a lot of use out of the models as they can team up with any of the factions.
This would net you more variety for less outlay, but if all players are already set on other factions I guess it's better to play a force that you really want to play with.

Welcome to the game.
The Shadow War boxed set is a great value, but with two provisions;
The forces are APAC and CSO, which might not fit your players, even if they are both very nice factions.
If you're coming from an RPG background, the Dark Tomorrow core rulebook is great for the fluff it adds. The Shadow War rulebook covers the same rules, but does not include unit information or fluff.
Getting Shadow War and Dark Tomorrow is still a good deal, so long as you have players willing to use APAC and CSO. I use both, but then, I like to use all the factions available.
With you wanting to use the Vatacina, Outbreak is the book that carries the additional rules and fluff you'd want. They were introduced in that book. While you could get by with the rules on the unit cards and the basic rules, Outbreak again has some great additional material.
There are some units available that are not in either rulebook, but the data cards that come with them give you everything you need to play with them.
As was noted, Ronin models can be added to any force, and so can be a good funds extender.
With the core rulebooks, you could try things out for most units with proxy miniatures and marker cards instead of the unit cards. The reference abilities of the cards is a big plus for the game, however, and the miniatures are well worth buying.
I use some old Shadowrun miniatures and such, but only to add more variety to the tabletop. I've picked up, and prefer to use, the miniatures from the game. That's both from a desire to support Aberrant with their great game, but also as a hobbyist that truly loves the figures they've put out.

Alright. I think you've given me good solid information. I appreciate it. A friend of mine who is interested has suggest splitting the cost on the two player set--even if we buy other unit sets, just to have the rulebook, AND the miniatures for variety of play. Makes things easier on me

I've more questions but those will be other threads.

Thanks all, after a fun but busy Halloween, I'm finally getting everything I need ordered. (I'll end up with three factions to start.)
