It's designed to be a skirmish-level army for one player BUT for a super stripped down version of the game (like a basic demo or sampling of the rules) two players could use the items of the box and play on a smaller than suggested table size. I'd recommend 2x2' if using just one Battle Box.
BTW: Welcome Toecutter to the Aberrant forums!

Hi Toecutter,
Welcome to the forum. As Bryan has pointed out the Battle Box is designed as single player box. The box contains 2 buggies and 1 truck. The are pieces for the buggies to mount either 2 gunners (1 in each) or 1 gunner and 1 rocket launcher. The box also contains the basic rules (with some advanced maneuvers included) along with a couple of D10s and D6s.
So it is a single player box but you could each play with a buggy demo the game or sample the rules and still have a lot of fun.
Cheers

Thanks guys, I 've been watching the site for some time. I am very interested in Warlands. I am a huge fan of Mad Max 1 and 2 I think that they are some of the best Australian films ever made. Although I lean more towards 1 than 2. Are the mechs in the game going to be bipedal speed machines? Light and fast?

To keep costs down for all parties and to keep the rules basic for the initial release. The Battle Box is intended to be a starter box with basic rules and some more advanced manuvers for 4-wheeled vehicles. The advanced rules will be a separate book that will include rules for 2-wheelers, 4-wheelers, infantry, and more... much more.

Hi Toecutter.
I agree, the first two are definitely two of the best Australian movies, 3 not so good. Mad Max, The Road Warrior in a horse and cart!!! Just didn't work for me.
There is a category of models in the rules called Walkers which defines large creatures and vehicles (such as mechs) that are not wheeled or tracked.

Don't think big anime mechs, think more industrial.

I saw a news piece about a farmer in China. He wasn't much of a farmer but he was pretty good at making robots. Even though he'd only had a primary/elementary education. He made a lifesize robot that pulled a rickshaw that he and is wife rode in.

I'll tell you this much...
each vehicle in the Battle Box (Weasel Scout Buggy x2 and Utility Truck x1) are statted to have 1 driver and 1 passenger - both with firearms. The Buggy will also have optional weaponry for the vehicle itself while the Truck will be able to carry up to 4 passengers in the bed.
This should help Iron Fist and his proxie conversions...
Actual web site updates when we're ready...

Am I correct in inferring that the "optional weaponry for the vehicle itself" is NOT considered the machine gun or rocket launcher that the passenger fires?
Thus, the boxed set will support buggies with an armed driver, passenger armed with a machine gun or rocket launcher, AND one or more other vehicle mounted weapons.
OR....
Is the RL or HMG considered a vehicle mounted weapon and when you stated that the passenger is "armed" you meant a side arm or rifle of some sort separate from the RL/HMG?

My new avatar is our "guzzoline girl" from Warlands. She ws first featured on postcards we gave away at Gencon in August.
Each driver and each passenger will be rated with a weapon (pistol/shotgun) and each vehicle will be rated with a larger weapon - in some cases switched out for a more expensive weapon.

please say the vehicles dont have weapons them selves...i hope its a rare thing if they do.... i hate how cheesy it can look.

if the vehicle based weapon is man wielded and not triggered then your buggy should be fine.
same concept a guy on a turret would still have a pistol/ shotgun on him. the rocket launcher would just take place of the turret.

Hi all,
The guns in the battle box for the buggies are man wielded and not automatically controlled from the buggy. The machine gunner stand on the back of the buggy but the rocket launcher guys hangs off the back using a hook to hang off the roll cage.
There is an extra piece in the box which is a small machine gun which can be mounted on one of the buggies. The rules for using this will be released as a free download in support of the Battle Box after the initial release. There will be another surprise as well but I am not going to reveal that particular surprise just yet.
