Full Version: Is Baldness A Prerequisite for being a Ronin?
Aberrant Official Forums > Rezolution Forums > Rezolution - General Discussion
RoyBatty
Just was looking at my Ronins and noticed they're nearly all bald.

The men certainly are, and so are a couple of the women.

Does one need to be bald first to become a Ronin, is the head shaved after joining, or does it just fall out from the stress?

Inquiring minds want to know.

i think its just an aberrant thing. tons of there minis are bald or close to it.
Zombie
As are many of the Apac. The way I see it... most of those minis are based on the book art.

Perhaps the artist wasn't good at drawing hair?

I dunno.

Maybe its all the Dark Future Radiation/Pollution.

I just recently went the bald route and so far, I'm loving it. Different reasons, but the end result is the same.

I would imagine, it's an upkeep issue? Ronin mostly live outside walled off inner cities, if I remember the fluff right. Life ain't easy there.

Sure there's area's of bliss outside the walls, but I would imagine the majority of it run down slums. Hygiene probably isn't a requirement. The less body hair the cleaner and less creepy crawlies hanging on.

Then there's the coolness factor. Bald is pretty darn cool. Even bald girls are sexy.

I've been painting bald ronin heads for the past week now, and I also have noted the baldness: I had to buy some proxies just to get some hair (and even then two were bald). And I too am a head-shaver. People look at the minis and then at me, and they seem fazed. I'm gonna grow my hair back or switch factions smile.gif

whats a proxie
sarafin
a model used instead of an official one. I tend to use em4 miniatures and east riding miniatures as extra shootists. Also, I use one with a shotgun as a maven. Most models are rez tho.

Yeah, after about the um-teenth bald head, I found some neat tut on stubble. It's actually pretty darn easy to do and has a great effect.

It's just a matter of adding a tiny, tiny drop of neutral gray to the flesh-tone and painting the stubble on. Then a tiny bit more gray to highlight some high points, like the cheeks, chin, and such.

Now, all my baldies have stubble. They are Ronin, dirty and mean. smile.gif

I was thinking of shading in some stubble, but I went for ethnic variety instead- and there's always hats

You can always add in hair as well. Add-on greenstuffing isn't all that hard, especially short hair.

Long pretty girl-hair is hard, but long scraggly hair is pretty easy.

Both of those are added on hair.

Maybe it's evolution as we all become more hairless (that sounds oxymoronic somehow) until we look like the grays from Close Encounters. smile.gif

Green Stuff. Kneadtite. Epoxy Putty. Modeling Putty. ProCreate.

Depends on the name brand and the properties you want in the putty. A fair amount of hobbyists use Green Stuff because of the popularity of Game Workshops. Hence calling it green stuffing.

ok cool.. thanks man.. i seen some guy makeing stuff out of it in a video once and ever sense i was wondering what that was called.

is it hard to use..... what kinda stuff can you make with it.?

Well 1/3 of Aberrant owners are bald, Jane and Myself are not I will point out. Simon is, well he is a shaved head baldie and looks like the Ferryman. wink.gif

So going on that I suspect we may find that about 1/3rd of the figures are bald. smile.gif

Chris hit the nail on the head. Life is hard in 2175, the last thing you want to have to worry about is finding a decent hairdresser, although baggers can do a good short back and cut throat. smile.gif

Cheers

The funny thing about green stuff is that most companies are using the same material, but repackaging it.

Kneadatite is the original green stuff, and you can normally get a much better deal on it if you buy it as Kneadatite.

GW used to package the Kneadatite instructions with their blisters of green stuff, so a local store got in touch with Kneadatite directly, and set up a direct supply run.

The different miniatures companies may have found other sources for their putty, but Kneadatite is still the best deal I've found for it.

You can get 36" rolls of tape, or tubes of separate blue and yellow putty for less than $15 as Kneadatite ($13 for the tubes through The War Store when I checked today), or pay ridiculous amounts extra for repackaged stuff.

Kneadatite was originally designed as plumbers' putty, but people have been using it for sculpting for decades. In the last ten years or so, Kneadatite took the hint, and started packaging it as sculpting putty.

One note, if you use a lot, the tape rolls are easy, but if you use it slowly, they can get hard along the join between the putties. I've never experienced this, but have talked to others that had it happen. I've always kept the putty sealed to some degree, and I've never had an issue, even when working off a tape roll for several months..

I've been working off of two of the tube sets for several years now, and have never had a problem with them. It's not as quick for getting an even match of the putties, but it's easier if I want to vary the mix.

Side note: Maybe they're all big Jason Statham fans???

shinkageryu
To make things easy yes you must shave your head to be a junior ronnin it's kinda the initiation thing.

Second how the heck are they going to do a Crank 2, HE DIED!! We all saw him go splat on the side walk. I don't think that they can get away with a series.

They find out he was a twin?

Or simply go the route of the Crow movies, and let them kill off someone else the same way, with the same problems.
