As I am new to all this, and have my crew of ronin nearly finished (but no rulebook... yet), is there a list of surviving or current nations in the Rez world? I was hoping to have my crew hail from Syria or a commercial zone in the Middle East if they exist... Certain members could equally well hail from an African environ.

Are people free to invent their own corporations? My crew, currently operating under the callsign 'Cipher Ouroboros' are to be extraction specialists, more interested in shadowy corporate espionage and black marketeering than outright conflict... Feasible?

They would be operating for Kaini Industries (named for the Boards of Canada tune, no less...).

Hi Sarfin,

Funny you should mention Boards of Canada as there music was always playing when I was writing the Rezolution fiction. They are great atmospheric music for my writing. smile.gif

As far as the Rez world goes, there is not a specific list of all regions as we left it open for future expansion. The middle east still exists and Africa, devastated by the Pale Horse virus formed into the Nile Empire. Syria has not been mentioned specifically.

The Ronin tend not work for 1 corporation but are mercenaries for hire to any corporation so in terms of playing the game, having them go on missions, for payment, for any corporation you choose is fine. Currently the main corporations we have focused on are APAC, Dravani and the Vatacina, who are more an organization than a corp and as we produce the figures for the other corporations, it's easier to play against people representing the established corporations.

I hope this helps.

Cheers

Tony

I go with a combo of Boards of Canada and Tim Hecker's albums, which are fantastic if you like the Boards.

Ronin are similar to Corporate mercenaries like Turner out of Count Zero, then? (Obviously far more varied.) Am gonna have to get that core rulebook, evidently!

Not heard Tim Hecker, have to look into that. Thanks.

Ronin tend to work in gangs or crews, they tend to sitck together in those crews. They work for money but they will work for anyone. Some crews may not want to work for some corporations but life is tough and a lot of Ronin will work for anyone if the price is right. That's not to say that individual Ronin won't take a contract with another corporation or crew so it is not unheard of for the CSO to hire a couple of Ronin to supplement their force for a mission.

There is a lot of background info in Rezolution: A Dark Tomorrow as well as the second book Rezolution: Outbreak which you will find useful. You can also download the issues of Data DUmp from the website. Data Dump is free and contains articles, fiction and assignments, some created by Aberrant, others created by players.

Cheers
