Howdy all.

I've gone out and bought the rulebook and am really enjoying it but I was wondering whether I should go out and buy Shadow war as well.

As I understand it it contains enough models to start a CSO and APAC crew, rules, measuring tape, dice etc but I'm in two minds with it.

The person I am going to play it with is unlikely to but the main rulebook, so it would be down to me to fill him in on the fluff etc. Does the condensed rules in the book cover all the rules in the main one?

My other bug bear at the moment is that I'm not really leaning toward any one faction to go with. Are we better off just buying a starter set each, when we've settled on it?

Sorry folks. As a lot of you can probably appreciate, moneys a bit scarce at the moment with things as they are and I've recently found out I'm gonna be a dad again (WOOHOO!). smile.gif

Any comments are appreciated.

Welcome Bondy to Aberrant and the dark tomorrow of Rezolution!

Shadow War gives you two 193-point, balanced, armies. The Shadow War rulebook is all the rules with no fluff but some great scenerios that can be played with the contents of the box set. Shadow War + A Dark Tomorrow (core rules) will give you a complete feel of the game.

Just buying two starters will give you a balanced game but you only get Quick Start rules in the Starters so you'll really miss out on the fluff and feel of how cinematic Rezolution really is.

Once you've decided which route to go... don't forget to pick up Outbreak. It's chock full of new fluff, awesome scenerios, new character stats, and two ways to play a campaign.

Hi bondy,

No worries about the questions.

Just to clarify for you the rulebook in Shadowar contains all the rules from the main rulebook, what it is missing is the background and the army lists, these are in Rezolution:A Dark Tomorrow for CSO, APAC, Dravani, and RONIN and in Rezolution: Outbreak for the Vatacina). It does contain playable assignments which are written to teach you how to play Rezolution.

Shadow War is a great way to get people into the game as it contains everything you need for 2 players to play. The only thing we couldn't fit in the box is the second player. We have found that a lot of people, when they play Rezolution, actually own 2 or more factions, and will change the army they play so Shadow War has become a very popular product.

Shadow Wars strength is that 1 person can buy the box and have everything he needs to play a game with a friend. We have always thought it is harder to get your friends to play a game if they have to go out and buy a starter before they can play with you. It is also very popular with stores for that very reason.

The figures in the box are all unique sculpts (as are the starter boxes) and you get 6 figures for each faction. CSO - Marshal Renton, a named character; a CSO Technician, the hacker for the CSO; 4 CSO Troopers, the core troops of the CSO - APAC - Hitomi, a named character in his TAD suit; A Yuurei, the APAC hacker, and 4 Enforcers, the core troops for APAC. The Marshal Renton and Hitomi figures are not available individually in stores although they are available for direct sale at our online store

Now if you are undecided about the faction you want to play and may not be leaning towards CSO or APAC, then Shadow War is not going to help in that respect. We have found over the years, that a lot of people buy Rezolution: A Dark Tomorrow (which you have already done), read through it and decide on the faction that appeals to them and their style of game play (each faction plays differently).

I hope this has helped. Either route is valid, Shadow War or single starters, it really depends on what you want to do and how much you want to spend.

Cheers

Tony

Hi Bondy.

I started with a Shadow War box and two or three additional models that I thought might be usefull after reading the rulebook.
It worked great for me to get a feel for the game.

Even if you donŽt end up playing APAC or CSO in the long run itŽs still good to know them because sooner or later youŽll have them as your opponent. wink.gif

And I promise, as soon as you played some three or four games youŽll want more . smile.gif

Wellcome to Rezolution.

Nico
