As a Vatacina player after looking at the Pistol Fencer I thought Holy(fill in the blank). Then I built a list for a tournament with 2 of them. While I was building the list somethong became clear, specialization. All Vatacina pieces are specialized almost to tunnel vision. The Fencer is this in spades. He is a shootist on steriods, at 1 1/2 times the cost. I will say it is woth the cost all things considered. But, consider this in scenario play you run the very real risk with the Vatacina of specializing yourself right out of the game. With the other factions most pieces can do something secondary, Vatacina are all one trick ponies and they are the best at that trick what ever that is. Tunnel Vision, force construction can take you right out of the game. The fragility of the force is that by taking out parts of it can cripple in scenario play.

You will probably only see 1 Brother of the mind on the table.
Robots major cool but EMP, and Hacking can balance.
Pistol Fencer points, almost 2 Shootists and the shootists have secondary functions.
Craft is our speciality. Cardinal EXSPENSIVE and almost a must have, Watcher limits on damage, good utility.
Troopers good value must have the Captain.

The limits of the Vatacina are in their ability to back their abilities up. They need to be the the best to macke up for their lack of secondary abilities.

Always play with a random scenario it will level the playing field.

Thanks Skip for sharing. You guys are going to Gen Con - right? I added a 500 point Rez event for 8pm on Thursday (ticketed event) and the free Mega Bash is Saturday night late. Both are in ICC102 (TableTop Gamers room).
