Hello all, i`m in the uk, and the rules are out next week in my locial game shop, and it sounds like a game people are having fun with, at the moment i have gangs of mega city, which i enjoy, and looking forward to playing some modern game gang Vs cops games soon...

With these Rez rules, can i design my own character with the main book, or do i just pick a type of standed one ( i have been looking at the download stuff ) ?

Looking to play some games like blade runner, or try some modern day shoot outs...

Also any reviews on the internet ?
Many thanks

There are no provisions to design your own character in the Core Rulebook.

In fact, there really aren't special characters in the book, with the exception of some named mercenaries. Which leaves you free to slap a name to your Arashi or Marshal, and play it from there...

Iam of the opinion that named characters should be left to the company to design. It balances them out a lot better than we ever could, but like Brasidas said, you can anme your Arashi or your marshall and go from there.

Oh, I agree. wink.gif

When you add rules for making your own characters, the difficulty of trying to balance things gets exponentially harder. Which isn't to say that it can't be done, but given the choice of having custom characters or a half-dozen new model/crew types, I'll take the new figures any day. biggrin.gif

Oooh, look at me, now with double-posting kung-fu action. rolleyes.gif

I didn't find any gameplay reviews online, most mentions of Rez have been reprints of material you can find on the site.

However, Harbinger #18 has a battle report from a demo game with APAC vs. CSO. It's not printed online, however, so you'll either have to buy the magazine, borrow a friend's copy, or read it at a store.

I do not see y you can't create a background for one though. You never know if the background is cool enough you might end up with your own mini.

Using the rules for an existing figure and making up your own background story is perfectly fine. As long as you use a Ronin Shootist model as a Ronin Shootist with the Ronin Shootist rules, you can call him a pickled herring for all I care.

You can always modify a game to enhance your enjoyment or ideas, it depends on your opponent, I am from a character orientated, just for fun games background but find increasingly that 'official tournament' culture is eroding the play for fun attitude in games and you can't mention any houserules or character conversions on games forums without people jumping down your throat.

It seems most people play games in store these days with pre-packaged forces.

But sure, common sense will allow you to modifiy characters.. if you have a trooper character who does well put one of his stats up for experience or give him a different weapon, all the stats are in the book.
As long as you don't create an unstoppable killing machine and say 'I thought you wouldn't mind me making up my own character...' a reasonable opponent should be fine about it, modified troops also add a bit more spice as your opponent dosn't immmediately know your troops stats and equipment as well as you do. A twist here, a surprise there..

games like this should be about imagination and fun!

I had read somewhere that Rezolution doesn't contain Exp. rules it would've meant for a much larger book and a different cost bracket, but they have been outlined. With that in mind you should be able to tailor your force and "create your own character" as such.

Maybe these rule will be released with the next expansion - what ever happens I know it will be sexy - as the rest of the Rez-Verse is.
